Anthropic has released new measurements showing how extensively AI is being used inside its own research and engineering operation.
The company says Claude led around 26% of its measured AI R&D work in August, up sharply from earlier in the year. AI also collaborated with humans on more than 90% of measured research work.
The distinction matters: Anthropic says Claude is not operating fully autonomously in the work measured.
For students and engineers, the development offers an early look at how technical roles could evolve. As AI takes on more research, coding and analytical tasks, skills such as problem formulation, experimentation, verification and engineering judgment may become increasingly important.
