Hyderabad-based TakeMe2Space's MOI-1A is scheduled to launch today, 1 October, aboard SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare mission, Reuters reported.
The company describes MOI-1A as India's first orbital-computing satellite. The sub-50 kg spacecraft carries Nvidia Orin NX edge-computing hardware and is designed to process Earth-observation data using AI in orbit instead of sending all raw data back to Earth first.
For students, this demonstrates how broad AI engineering can become:
AI + Space Technology + Edge Computing + Computer Vision + Embedded Systems + Data Engineering
AI careers are not limited to chatbots and generative-AI applications.
Takeaway: AI becomes more interesting when combined with other engineering domains.
