Fresh reporting in The Economic Times says 45% of recruitment assessments examined in a HirePro report were flagged for integrity issues in FY26, up from 32.4% in FY22. AI-assisted cheating, impersonation and deepfake-enabled interview fraud are putting pressure on traditional hiring methods.
For students, the important consequence is how employers may respond. Identity verification, live problem solving and deeper questioning around projects and claimed skills could become increasingly important.
Being able to genuinely demonstrate and explain your abilities matters more when employers have fewer reasons to trust surface-level signals.
Takeaway: Don't just list skills or projects. Be prepared to demonstrate, explain and defend what you actually know.
